We seriously need to start talking about all of these really unsexy, but really important women's health-related issues. With the internet flooded by websites and blogs full of poor-quality, confusing information and quite frequently utter nonsense, there is a need for reliable, evidence-based information about women's health. About the Gynae Geek
Dr Anita Mitra MBChB PhD MRCOG is a consultant gynaecologist specialising in gynae cancer surgery. She graduated from Leicester Medical School in 2011 and completed her PhD at Imperial College London relating to the vaginal microbiome in HPV and cervical cancer. Following general Obstetrics & Gynaecology training in the North-West Thames Deanery she completed sub-specialist training in gynae oncology at Hammersmith Hospital.
She performs laparoscopic, robotic and open radical surgery for advanced gynaecological cancers, as well as cancer diagnostics and is an accredited colposcopist.
She is widely known as ‘The Gynae Geek’ for her engaging, evidence-based women’s health education across social media, TV and radio and is the author of two gynae health-focussed books. She is also the mother of three-year old twins.
