"We need to talk..."

Those four words no one wants to hear.

"We need to talk about vaginas/labia/discharge..." are the words that no one wants to hear PERIOD (excuse the menstrual pun!). Well the time has come. We seriously need to start talking about all of these really unsexy, but really important women's health-related issues. With the internet flooded by websites and blogs full of poor-quality, confusing information and quite frequently utter nonsense, there is a need for reliable, evidence-based information about women's health. And so the Gynae Geek was born! If you're looking for straight-talking facts, and answers to the questions you were too afraid to ask, you're in the right place. So take a seat, the Gynae Geek will see you shortly...

About the Gynae Geek

Dr Anita Mitra, BSc(Hons) MBChB PhD is the Gynae Geek.

She is an NHS doctor based in London working in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, with experience in both clinical medicine and research. Prior to becoming a doctor she worked in a research lab on the anticancer mechanisms of various phytonutrients and she has recently completed her PhD on the vaginal microbiome in cervical precancer (CIN)/cancer, and the reproductive complications of treatment for cervical precancer.

When not in the lab, or solving mysteries between someones legs, Dr Anita can be found in a gym perfecting her deadlift technique, drinking overpriced coffee in various London cafes, or working as a professional bridesmaid.
